Now that we know for sure (and this time we mean it) that the snow is through, its time to think about springtime auto maintenance. Here are a few things your car needs this time of year:
Full Detail
Your vehicle has been through the snow and slush for months now, and a whole winters worth of salt and grime have accumulated in places you don’t even want to think about causing rust and paint erosion. Find a detail specialist that will take care of this for you, including a thorough inside cleaning to get you ready for your next road trip.
Tires
Its time to switch out those tires. Riding on bare roads with winter wheels can make a serious dent in the treads, and we all know how expensive it is to replace them. Even if you use all-weather tires it’s a good idea to get the air pressure checked now that the temperature has changed.
Wiper Blades
Your wiper blades have taken a beating. Have them inspected and changed out if necessary. Don’t let the next rain-storm take you by surprise, leaving you blind or your windshield scratched!
Belts & Hoses
Temperature changes tend to loosen your engines belts and hoses. This makes it necessary to get under the hood and see what’s going on. A good mechanic will know exactly where to look, plus this is a great time to check for cracks and wear.
Alignment & Suspension
Remember all those potholes that started appearing once the snow began to melt? Remember that especially big one that caught you by surprise?? While your mechanic is already checking out those belts & hoses, you might want to ask them to glance at the alignment & suspension to make sure they’re not too far out of factory specifications. This can prevent additional problems from occurring down the road.
